Instructions

How to Make Apple Gingerbread Hand Pies – Step by Step

  1. Preheat the Oven:
    Set your oven to 350°F.

  2. Prepare the Dough:
On a lightly floured surface, unroll the pie crusts and gently roll them out until even—but not too thin.

  3. Cut the Shapes:
Use a gingerbread man cookie cutter to cut out matching pairs. You’ll get about 10 to 12 pies from two crusts.

  4. Fill the Pies:
Place about 1 tablespoon of apple pie filling on one cut-out. Top with a second gingerbread cut-out and press the edges gently with a fork.

  5. Add Details:
Whisk the egg and lightly brush each pie with egg wash. Use a small knife to slice tiny air vents across the front.

  6. Bake:
Place the hand pies on a lined baking sheet and bake for 20 to 25 minutes until golden brown.

  7. Cool & Decorate:
Let the pies cool slightly, then dust with powdered sugar, drizzle with icing, or serve with whipped cream.
